2 Years in China

by Regin Reyno

2 years ago today, was our first day in China (we landed on the evening of April 10th). All of us are from the Philippines, brought to the beautiful city of Beijing by a company that values its people. The company bore our airfare and hotel accommodation for 1 month (with breakfast). They even took care of the fees that we need to pay our government as overseas workers.

1st day in Beijing
Arriving in Beijing, we were greeted by cool breeze of spring, wonderful flowering trees, and gigantic skyscrapers. We instantly knew that we’re going to love this wonderful, vibrant city. We officially signed our contract that same day. It was the beginning of friendship, career, travels, and new experiences.

2 years living here in Beijing, I can say, was one of the best days of our lives. The city is so safe, in fact, one of the safest cities in the world that I’ve been to. Crime rate here is so low. It is very organised, clean, and has an efficient and convenient transportation system. The company provides us monthly housing allowance-enough to live in a very comfortable apartment. Each of us has his/her own apartment. And Beijing being one of the world’s major cities, almost everything can be found here. It is also always the venue of major sporting events and musical concerts.

We love our job. I think that’s the main reason why we like it here. Other than the perks, the job in itself is fun and you’re surrounded by cool people.

We spend our weekends by eating out, relaxing in cafes, playing sports, visiting some of the numerous parks, temples, and historical places, attending sporting or musical events, and exploring other provinces.

It was also an opportunity to be able to be exposed to people from all over the world, as our colleagues are from South Africa, England, USA, Cameroon, Australia, New Zealand, India, Spain, Ireland, and Canada. But more importantly, we were able to experience a country with 5 thousand years of history. This cultural experience is one of the things we’re proud of.

In this 2 years, we had the opportunity to travel to different countries, as well. I, alone, has been to 8 countries/territories ever since that contract signing on April 11, 2014. Looking back, we can’t help but marvel at the goodness of the Lord. We believe that these blessings came from Him.

We are grateful for our parents, too, for allowing us to live in this country.

In celebration of our 2nd year anniversary, we had a 5-course dinner at Grand Hyatt Beijing.
Cheers to friendship, career, travel, and new experiences
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
