My 2013 Travels

by Regin Reyno

In December 2012, I wrote a blogpost about my 2012 travels and thought what might 2013 offer. Our life is full of uncertainties.  We don’t know what lies ahead. So we can only dream of and plan, but still we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

The Best Beach I've Been To

by Regin Reyno

I’m not much of a beach person, honestly. I’m more of a mountain person. I prefer the cool temperature, foggy mornings, spectacular view, and laid-back environment of the mountains compared to the humid, harsh sun rays, vast and giddy sea, salty, painful-to-the-eye waters and its creepy creatures.

I have a slight “phobia” of the sea. Its vastness and depth inject terror in my mind. It scares me when I look at the sea at night and hearing its waves.

Things to Do in Vientiane

by Regin Reyno

Vientiane, the sleepy capital of Laos is a popular destination for expats and tourists in Thailand who wants to extend their tourist visa on arrival, get a longer duration tourist visa, get a working, spouse, or education visa. We call it visa run, as there's a Thai embassy in Vientiane.

It is also a stop-over for backpackers who are trampling the Banana Pancake trail-on their way to the more popular destinations such as party place Vang Vieng, and UNESCO world heritage sites Luang Prabang and Phonsavan, where the mysterious Plane of Jars is located.

Dating Ideas in Bangkok

by Regin Reyno

My favorite city in Asia and one of my most romantic places in Southeast Asia is Bangkok. It is called Kungthep by the locals which translates as City of Angels. It is known for its delicious food, inexpensive cost of living, and great shopping. It is a great destination for a romantic experience as well.

A bustling Southeast Asian mega-city it, of course, has the same problems with most mega cities in Southeast Asia. Pollution, traffic jams, crime (although I feel generally safer in Bangkok than in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Saigon), and sanitation. But on the other hand, it boasts on its ancient temples and palaces, skyscrapers, luxurious hotels, well-manicured parks, posh cafes, great restaurants, gigantic malls, and a river that flows through it.

Accommodation in Bangkok: Preme Hostel

by Regin Reyno

A backpacker’s hostel that I highly recommend is this beautiful hostel located at the heart of Bangkok’s business district, Sukhumvit. The location is very convenient as it is along Sukhumvit road. It is near BTS sky train, Asok Station. It is walking distance to Terminal 21 Mall and it is surrounded by restaurants, streets foods, and shops, massage centers, and cafes.
Tired of Khaosan road? This one's for you.
