Elegant, Elusive, Extravagant Executive Suite Experience at Conrad Bangkok

by Regin Reyno

Traveling is an activity that brings happiness to one’s life. It is a package that contains many things that can make you happy. There’s the experience-which includes cultural immersion, food, visiting historical sites and mingling with locals. Then there’s the bonding moments, it can be with family, friends, colleagues, sweetheart, husband/wife, the scenery, and of course the accommodation.

When we travel, we always put importance on the accommodation-in fact most of us would spend a lot of money on it-just for us to be comfortable and to be able our enjoy our travel or vacation.

I've read in a Reader’s Digest mag before, that most of us spend a lot of money on vacation just to have the comfort of home which we shouldn't have missed if we hadn't left in the first place.

As a backpacker, I don't usually go for expensive accommodations on my travels as I usually spend most my time exploring the place rather than watching cable TV in the hotel room. And I also encourage inexpensive travel. Less expenses more travel fund thus more places to explore.

But once in awhile, I allow myself to enjoy the luxuries of resorts. 4-5 star hotels. Splurge, savor, and relax. I’m a big fan of resort relaxation. 4-5 star hotels bring me a complete relaxation experience. Buffet breakfast, night swimming, Jacuzzi, spa, gym, sports TV. Well who wouldn't?

I was so blessed when Conrad Bangkok, one of the best 5 star luxury hotels in Thailand handed me a complimentary stay in its Executive Suite. Yes, not just a normal room but in its Executive Suite. It comes with an executive buffet breakfast, dinner at its French-Thai restaurant and complete usage of its amenities such as fitness center, pool, sauna at its elegant Seasons Spa.

It was an ultimate 5 star experience. The room was so big; it has a living room, and very spacious working area. There are a total 3 flat screen TVs in the room-One in the living room, one in the bedroom and the other in the bathroom. It also has a Playstation, CD player and coffee brewing machine. It has a daily supply of different fruits, too. There’s also a pillow menu where you can choose what kind of pillow you prefer for optimum comfort. Choices include Shogun Pillow, Anti-Stress Pillow, Cold and Flu Pillow which is infused with four essential oils, eucalyptus, tea tree, bergamot and sandalwood.

Upon checking in at 1pm, I relaxed sipping a cup of tea, savored the moment then enjoyed the amenities of the room.

Dinner was in the executive floor of the hotel, in a restaurant called CafĂ©@2 “French-Thai Brasserie”, a French-Thai restaurant. It was fantastic. The food was awesome and the French chef was even outside slicing and serving his special Australian beef to customers.

The room was so relaxing, and located in the upper part of the building you can see the wonderful view of the city-with its lights shimmering at light.

The next day before breakfast, I did some laps in the pool for my morning exercise. Its a relaxing pool with a bar beside it. A great place to unwind.

After tiring myself in the pool, breakfast time in the executive floor again. And the executive buffet breakfast was excellent. Foods ranging from western to oriental, with all those different French breads, Thai fried rice, noodles, European cheese, salmon, different salads, tropical fruits, veggie and fruit juices and a lot more. It was wonderful.

Muesli, anyone?
Its Seasons Spa is the best that I've experienced so far. You can choose from Balinese, Hawaiian, and Swedish massages with different kinds of oil to choose from. I chose Swedish massage with ilang-ilang oil. It really took my tiredness away.

I was really blessed to experience all of this without spending a dime. Thank God for these blessings and thank you Conrad Bangkok. I was able to experience a relaxing day in a luxury 5 star hotel.
